  • Hiking is always at the top of my list! Lazy Pines is located next to Davy Crockett National Forest, with a trail just 6 minutes up the road. Plus, there are even more options within a short drive, like Mission Tejas State Park, Ratcliff Lake, and Lake Livingston State Park.
  • Prefer a glass of wine over lacing up hiking boots? Tempe Creek Vineyards, about 35 minutes away, is part of the Sam Houston Wine Trail.
  • For indoor fun (with the comfort of heat or AC!), you can try your hand at the indoor batting cages in Lufkin, just 25 minutes away.
  • And, of course, this is Texas—so why not dust off your cowboy boots and head to Rose Lake Ranch for a private horseback trail ride? Call ahead to book your adventure!
  • If you’ve ever dreamed of golfing under majestic pine trees, Neches Pines Golf Course is just a 10-minute drive from the cabins. This hidden gem is perfect for golfers of all skill levels.
  • Prefer exploring local shops, boutiques, and eateries? Stroll through charming downtown Lufkin, just 20 minutes away, or head a bit further to Nacogdoches (45 minutes) for antique stores and small-town charm.
  • For my artistic travelers, Lufkin offers a variety of entertainment like live theater productions, concerts, and classic movie screenings.
  • Summer will be here before you know it, and East Texas has some fantastic lakes! Lake Livingston, one of the largest lakes in Texas, is just 40 minutes away. Rent a pontoon boat, try jet skiing, or relax on a kayak. Want to sit back and soak it all in? Treat yourself to a sunset cruise.
